The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2026 featured a dedicated open-access session highlighting the AI-POD project and how artificial intelligence is reshaping cardiovascular risk prediction through imaging‑driven innovation. Entitled “Transforming cardiovascular risk prediction with AI: from models to real‑world impact,” the session presented key results and insights from AI‑POD:

  • Chairperson’s introduction (Regina Beets-Tan)
  • Developing AI models for cardiovascular risk prediction (Philipp Seeböck)
  • Integrating AI into clinical practice with the AI‑POD decision support system (Johannes Grapentin)
  • Real‑world validation and early clinical study findings (Anastasia Bartashova)
  • Trust, adoption, and ethical considerations in AI for cardiovascular care (Kaatje Goossens)

Their insights collectively demonstrated how AI‑POD is bridging the gap between model development and real‑world clinical impact while keeping transparency, trustworthiness, and clinical relevance at the core. In addition, the session addressed critical topics such as trust and ethical considerations, drawing on extensive stakeholder research conducted within the project.
