At the AI-POD Project, we are on a mission to revolutionise the way we approach cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention. Over the past year, our team of dedicated researchers and clinicians have made significant strides in integrating a holistic set of data sources – including clinical parameters, lab results, patient history, imaging, fitness trackers, and lifestyle apps – all powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence.
The journey began with a kick-off meeting in Vienna, in May 2022, where our consortium of eleven partners from eight European countries came together to pave the course for this ambitious endeavour. The goal is clear: to empower individuals across Europe to embrace healthier lifestyles and significantly reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease, with a particular focus on the obese population.
In February 2024, we convened for our second Project Consortium Meeting, where we reviewed the progress made and charted the path forward. Our team’s expertise, spanning fields such as cardiovascular CT imaging, computational imaging, obesity research, and artificial intelligence, has been instrumental in driving this collaborative effort.
One of the highlights of the year was our participation at the European Congress of Radiology, where we showcased our innovative approach to risk assessment and the integration of AI in clinical settings. The response from the medical community was strong, highlighting the significance of our work, further reinforcing the importance of our work. In addition, we organised a Stakeholder and End-users webinar, providing a platform for open dialogue and feedback from the individuals and organizations who stand to benefit the most from our project. This engagement with our target audience has been crucial in shaping the development of our solutions, ensuring that they address the real-world needs of those at risk of cardiovascular disease. As we look ahead, the AI-POD Project remains determined in its commitment to empowering individuals and revolutionising the way we approach cardiovascular disease prevention. With our interdisciplinary team of experts and the integration of cutting-edge artificial intelligence, we are poised to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of people across Europe.
