On October 10th, 2024, the project team held a pivotal meeting with the External Advisory Board (EAB) to present several important updates and foster collaborative discussions on the project’s ongoing progress. The main topics discussed during the meeting included: Overview of Project Progress, Update on AI-POD Study, Update on Technical Developments, Update on Ethical Aspects and Discussion and Recommendations by EAB.

A major focus of the meeting was the AI-POD study, a cornerstone of the project aimed at advancing artificial intelligence capabilities for predictive healthcare. The team presented significant progress in the development of AI models designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of health outcome predictions. These advancements are directly supporting the creation of a fully integrative Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), a tool intended to assist healthcare professionals in making more informed and timely clinical decisions.

Additionally, the team showcased the development of a citizen app, which aims to empower individuals to manage their health more effectively by providing personalised insights and predictive analytics. This app is designed to work in tandem with the CDSS, creating a cohesive ecosystem that bridges the gap between patients and healthcare providers.

A key part of the discussion also revolved around the ethical considerations of integrating AI into healthcare. Board members engaged in a robust dialogue about the potential challenges and responsibilities associated with AI-driven healthcare solutions, emphasising the need for transparency, privacy protection, and equitable access to the developed tools.

The meeting concluded with an open forum for EAB discussions and recommendations, allowing board members to provide valuable feedback on the project’s direction. Their insights will be instrumental in shaping future developments, ensuring the project aligns with both scientific objectives and societal needs.

The meeting ended with expressions of gratitude from the board members and participants for the valuable input and lively discussion. The importance of their contributions was acknowledged, and everyone was thanked for their time. The board was reassured that updates, particularly concerning AI-POD and other ongoing developments, would continue to be shared, and participants were encouraged to stay in touch.

This productive meeting reaffirmed the project’s commitment to advancing AI in healthcare while maintaining a strong focus on ethical practices and patient-centred solutions. The feedback and expertise provided by the EAB will be key in guiding the next phases of the project.
