University Hospital Bonn

The University Hospital Bonn (UKB) is one of the leading hospitals in Germany. It cares for about 500,000 patients per year, employs 8,800 people and has a balance sheet total of 1.5 billion euros. In addition to the more than 3,300 medical and dental students, a further 580 people are trained each year in numerous healthcare professions. It has the third highest case severity index in Germany. As one of the largest German radiology departments, the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology of the University Hospital Bonn offers outpatients and inpatients a comprehensive range of radiological services, both for the imaging diagnosis of diseases and for their minimally invasive therapy. Its scientific working groups develop and evaluate novel concepts for the further optimization of diagnosis and therapy in numerous projects.

Team

Alois Martin Sprinkart

PD Dr. Alois Martin Sprinkart is Senior Clinical Scientist in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Bonn. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in various fields of radiology and is a recognized medical physics expert for X-ray diagnostics according to §47 StrlSchV German legislation. He has a Bachelor’s degree in medical engineering and a Master’s degree in applied physics. In 2016, he received his doctorate from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr University Bochum and in 2020, he habilitated in experimental radiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn. Alois Martin Sprinkart heads a central working group for medical imaging, image analysis and AI. His expertise in these areas has led to 100+ scientific publications in internationally recognized journals.

Yannik Christian Layer

Dr. Yannik Christian Layer is a resident in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Bonn. He received his medical degree from the University of Bonn in 2021. Upon completion of his thesis in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University Hospital Bonn, he started working as a radiologist in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Bonn. His current scientific focus is on the clinical research of photon-counting detector CT.

Yannik Christian Layer

Dr. Daniel Kuetting, born on December 16, 1987, in Hamburg, Germany, is a accomplished diagnostic and interventional radiologist. Currently serving as the Chief Senior Physician at the University Hospital Bonn’s Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, he has expertise in cardiothoracic imaging, oncological imaging, and emergency and trauma diagnostics. Dr. Kuetting holds certifications in cardiovascular radiology, endovascular specialist training, and advanced cardiac CT and MRI, contributing to his role as a recognized leader in his field. His academic contributions include a professorial thesis on cardiac strain imaging in MRI and numerous scientific leadership roles in conferences and workshops. Dr. Kuetting memberships in several prestigious radiological societies, including the German Radiological Society (DRG) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), underline his commitment to advancing radiology.
