Prof. Dr. med. Wiebke Fenske

Prof. Dr. Wiebke Fenske is head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology & Diabetes and Gastroenterology & Hepatology at BG University Hospital Bergmannsheil in Bochum at the Ruhr-University Bochum. In 2006, she graduated from Medical School at University of Würzburg, Germany and did her PhD in Molecular Nephrology. After a postdoc residency at the Imperial College London at the Department of Hypothalamic Physiology in Energy Homeostasis, United Kindgom, Wiebke Fenske became BMBF research group leader (NeurObesity) at the University of Leipzig, Germany, where she worked as PI on the IFB Obesity Diseases and the SFB 1052 Obesity mechanisms. In 2020 Wiebke Fenske had been appointed Professor for Endocrinology and Diabetes as head of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University Hospital Bonn, where she worked with her team as PI in the TRR/SFB 333 BATenergy. Since 2023, she is the director of the Medical Department at BG University Hospital Bergmannsheil in Bochum. Scientifically she is particularly interested in the molecular mechanisms of obesity, prediction of related cardiometabolic diseases and stratification of personalized weight management solutions for better life.

Dr. med. Assem Aweimer

Dr. Assem Aweimer is Senior Physician and Consultant at Department of Cardiololgy at BG University Hospital Bochum, Germany and is certified in interventional cardiology, device treatment, and electrophysiology. He is head of the Division of Electrophysiology and has worked as Principal Investigator in multiple clinical investigations, including the More-CRT-MPP and AdaptResponse studies.

Dr. med. Saif Al Basri

Al Basri is a postdoctoral physician at the BG Universitätsklinikum Bochum, Germany, integrating direct patient care with a commitment to pioneering medical research. Upon completing his studies at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany, he is currently in advanced training to become a specialist in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. 

Dr. rer. nat. Viktoria Stab

Viktoria Stab is a senior postdoctoral researcher at Ruhr-University Bochum, who has completed her PhD in Biology at Ruhr University with a strong background in Molecular Virology and Immunology. Since 2017 she is working in the Department of Endocrinology at BG University Hospital Bochum with a strong focus on antibody-based therapeutic approaches for diabetes as well as immune-related aspects of obesity mechanisms.

Monika Harazin

Monika Harazin is an experienced Biologist and Medcial Technician focussing on molecular and translational obesity and metabolic research at Department of Internal Medicine at BG University Hospital of Bochum.
